| Thrashers In An Un-Good Place
They even took a 1-0 lead into the first break thanks to a Mark Recchi power play goal. But the Leafs scored three unanswered goals, one by Mats Sundin, another by Alexander Steen, (who just signed a 2 year, $3.4 million contract extension), and then the last when Nik Antropov notch the 100th goal of his career. Toronto ended the season series with Atlanta 3-0-1. Rubbing a little salt in the wound, Florida scored a game-tying goal with 4 seconds left in the 3rd against Philadelphia and then won it in overtime. That leaves the Thrashers in 4th place in the Southeast Division and 13th in the Eastern ConferenceĀ
just one point ahead of Toronto in the 14th spot. Obviously, the frustrating 3-1 loss to Toronto leaves Don Waddell and the Thrashers in an un-good place, to put it mildly.
Eagles' Banner, Reid say they don't know origin of Sheppard trade ...
The Eagles' president said yesterday that he will spend most of his time at the NFL scouting combine not looking at college players, but talking with agents. "They're all here and they're all wanting to have dinner and have lunch and have breakfast, and you better bring your credit card. It's a good chance to get to know them," said Banner, as he and the Eagles prepared not just for the April draft but for the start of free agency a week from today. "Most of the ones we meet with are ones that have our players, but you never know when you're going to want to have a good relationship with somebody. Almost all the deals in the league are done over the phone, and that's a difficult way to negotiate, so you want to make sure you have a personal connection with people." There is an excellent chance that Banner's dining schedule includes either Lamont Smith or Peter Schaffer, the agents who represent Birds cornerback Lito Sheppard.
Matthews mischaracterized Bill Clinton "fairy tale" quote
Media Matters for America has noted other instances in which the media have misreported Clinton's "fairy tale" statement. In addition, Matthews aired a clip of Clinton saying, "Jesse Jackson won South Carolina twice in '84 and '88, and he ran a good campaign, and Senator Obama has run a good campaign here," but did not note that Times reporter Katharine Q. Seelye wrote in a January 28 post on the Times' political blog The Caucus that Jackson himself said that he did not "read anything negative into Clinton's observation." The post also quoted Jackson saying: "Bill has done so much for race relations and inclusion, I would tend not to read a negative scenario into his comments." From the January 7 campaign event with Bill Clinton, as transcribed by Congressional Quarterly: QUESTION: Thanks.
SFGate: World Views
Now that their man has failed in everything he has touched, from the costly boondoggle of an illegal war in Iraq and an aimless war in Afghanistan, not to mention disaster-relief services (the Hurricane Katrina fiasco), economic policy (where will the up-to-its-neck-in-debt administration find the $150 billion it's proposing to help boost the ailing economy?) and all-around diplomacy, here comes the news that China might want to set up a military base in Iran, one of the points on Bush's infamous, international "axis of evil." .
Debt Consolidation Loan: The Perfect Solution for Unmanageable Debts
Apart from the above problem, there is another problem. The problem of accumulating paperless cash (credit card) with an aim to meet the expected expenses is an issue with most of us. The intent behind it is no doubt good, but the underlying fact is that at times this paperless cash is used for purposes other than what it is aimed for. Not to forget the fact that we have fixed sources of income which may, at times, are not sufficient to meet the present or likely expenditure. The amount owed by us keeps on increasing but in small proportion. Now think of a time when these accumulated dues rise to a level high above our income sources, this will mean that either we have to make the full payment at once or pay the dues in instalments. .
Nelson fumes over 'chaotic' lead-up to apology
Looking from a global perspective, it would not be my intention to create divisions within Countries, rather than "UNITE THEM".Time is precious, in this current climate of looming Environmental Challenges that I have no tolerance, whatsoever, for the discussion of these diversionary tactics from the Indigenous Community, which only distracts and Detracts, from the purpose of why, we have ALL been placed here together, on this Earth. There are no first hand witnesses living today, who can accurately relate to us, what happened with the arrival of Captain James Cook or thereafter, so that really makes the whole discussion, obsolete. It would be my considered opinion that this whole procedure is a complete waste of time and money and is an incredulous farce. It would be my considered opinion that the pursuance of this objective would be deleterious to our future as a Nation as a whole and recommend that it be abandoned and withdrawn.

Thursday, January 17: Stephen Soldz: American and California Psychological Associations move to gut bill on interrogations A major battle is shaping up in California where a coalition is working to remove health providers from participating in military and CIA interrogations.
Amy is back among us, says brother
I should mention here that we all knew how bad her condition was. There was never any denial on the part of my parents, whose fears and anxiety over their only daughter had made them both ill." The singer entered a London rehab clinic, emerging to prepare for her Grammy performance via satellite after she was denied a US visa. She won five Grammy awards, including record and song of the year for her autobiographical hit Rehab. Mr Winehouse said her performance, widely considered her best in months, made the family "truly happy". He wrote: "Yes, the best of weekends. Spurs continue their resurgence, but most importantly of all very definite signs that Amy - the real Amy - is back among us. The hope, of course, is that this time it's for real." The star's mother, Janis Winehouse, told GMTV earlier that she believed her daughter was "on the road to recovery".
Bush Addresses Policy on Africa
We have seen that conditions on the other side of the world can have a direct impact on our own security. We know that if Africa were to continue on the old path of decline, it would be more likely to produce failed states, foster ideologies of radicalism, and spread violence across borders. We also know that if Africa grows in freedom, and prosperity, and justice, its people will choose a better course. People who live in societies based on freedom and justice are more likely to reject the false promise of the extremist ideology. Citizens who see a future of opportunity are more likely to build hopeful economies that benefit all the people. Nations that replace disease and despair with healing and hope will help Africa do more than just survive -- it will help Africa succeed. For all these reasons, America has dramatically increased our commitment to development in Africa.
