| Al-Qaeda leaders admit: 'We are in crisis. There is panic and fear'
The idea was to keep Iraq and Iran engaged in a war for as long as possible...we armed Saddam to prevent a Shiite domino effect. As long as Iran and Iraq could keep each other militarily occupied, neither could wreak havoc on its neighbors. It worked for a while and it served to stem Iranian influence in the region for decades. Almost as soon as the "Coalition Of The Willing" invaded Iraq, Saddam was deposed, his sons were killed and Moammar Ghadaffi gave up his nuclear weapons programs. Iraq and Libya are not presently threats to their neighbors and the possibility exists that a Democracy in the heart of the Arab world may flourish for a century. Bush was right. .
Bill Wyman: I can't live off the Stones royalties
We have to because of the budget. You can't make much money touring with a 10 piece band. You get a bit of small change but basically you do it because you love playing, which is the honourable way." His band - a fluctuating squad of veterans presently headed by guitarist Albert Lee, the vocalist Beverley Skeete and Dennis Locorriere, formerly of Dr Hook - do not sign up with him to line their pockets, Wyman insists. "Beverley has turned down gigs with Annie Lennox to tour with The Rhythm Kings for which she gets a fifth of the money. This has not been a career move for any of us." Wyman formed his current band in the early 1990's as a deliberate antidote to the one he left after the Steel Wheels tour. From a financial standpoint, the timing of his departure was not auspicious.
Corrections and clarifications
An item Thursday in the Regional News Watch about a brawl at Bradley Technology and Trade High School incorrectly stated that the school's safety aides were away at training at the time. The Milwaukee police officers assigned to Bradley Tech as school resource officers were at training. *** Because of an editing error, an article in some editions Thursday about potholes misspelled the surname of a Milwaukee alderman. His name is Jim Bohl, not Buhl. 2/14/08 An article Wednesday about proposed legislation seeking $900,000 in emergency funds to save 21 assistant district attorney positions across Wisconsin misstated the impact the additional funding would have on the state budget deficit. It would increase the deficit to about $401 million, not about $500 million.
Investigation discovers sex offender working at daycare center
Louisville, Ky. (WHAS-TV) -- A local daycare is under investigation by the state after it was discovered that a registered sex offender was working there. It's a parent's worst nightmare; a convicted sex offender with a scary past working in their child's daycare center. Because of the investigation, parents are now pulling their children out of the facility. WHAS11 News also discovered that he's not the only one with a criminal history working there. The man's name is Joseph Gibson and he began working at The Growing Place child care center in the highlands about six weeks ago. Gibson was fired Tuesday. But that was just the beginning. It takes a lot of trust to drop off one of the most important people in your life at preschool. Parents of children who attend The Growing Place say that their trust was shattered when we told them about Joseph Gibson, who has been working around their children for hours every weekday.
Gen Me: No more self-centred than you
They also said that many of these young graduates were still living at home with their folks into their mid and late 20's. This article purports to tell us that these young adults are slef sufficient. Does that mean they are moving out and getting their own places or will they simply clean up their rooms and help mom with the dishes. Bottom line: Give me some grant money and I'll produce any report you want. Posted 29/01/08 at 11:21 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment .

Frommer: Check bank charges before using credit card overseas
What credit cards should you use if you plan to travel abroad? The mathematics are fairly clear. You start with the fact that all the big banks issuing credit cards charge as much as 3 percent of the total when that card is used for a transaction in a foreign currency. And that expense is over and above the 1 percent charged by Visa and MasterCard for converting the foreign currency payment into U.S. dollars. Visa and MasterCard perform a service in return for their 1 percent charge. The largest credit-card issuers in America -- Bank of America, Citibank, Fifth Third Bank, JP Morgan Chase, Simmons First Bank and Wells Fargo -- all charge 3 percent for doing nothing. American Express charges 2 percent. Wachovia and Washington Mutual charge 1 percent.

Stayaway Reebok fans: What's the answer?
BOLTON Wanderers are banking on new boss Gary Megson delivering results that will lift them clear of the relegation zone and ease growing concerns over a dramatic drop in attendances. Crowd figures at the Reebok have slumped to a record low as the Whites have struggled at the wrong end of the Premiership. And, while they are considering a range of incentives to boost gates, they don't expect any significant improvement until the team starts climbing the table. "The stark reality is that the club is struggling on the pitch," commercial director, Gareth Moores, said. .
RSPCA removes 73 rabbits from family’s backyard
The woman from the RSPCA was very sneaky, underhand and extremely rude to the family, lauding it over the whole process and showing her ignorance of the subject she claimed to know everything about. Even the vet she brought with her could find no fault with the rabbits saying that they were all perfectly healthy. A lot of the officers there were in sympathy with the family and some even said they really didn't want to be there. It seems that this woman was simply power mad and determined to snatch beloved animals no matter what the cost to the family or even the animals themselves. If I was her boss, she'd be sacked on the spot and made to hand the rabbits back with a very public apology and made to pay compensation out of her own pocket for the stress the family and rabbits endured. .
